Business Development Operator - Path to Ownership
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are recruiting on behalf of a profitable, relationship-driven commercial printing company based in Reno, NV with $2.4M in annual revenue and a loyal B2B customer base built over years of consistent, quality service.
This is not a traditional job. The owner of this business is looking for a partner, someone who wants to grow into leadership and, over time, take ownership of something real. If you are motivated by more than a paycheck and want to build, lead, and eventually own, we would like to start a conversation.
THE PATH: FOUR PHASES OF GROWTH
Phase 1 -- Build: Develop relationships with new and existing B2B customers, establish a repeatable sales pipeline, and generate sustainable top-line growth. You will work alongside the current owner to learn every dimension of the business; operations, production, finance, and client relationships.
Phase 2 -- Lead: Take on day-to-day operational responsibility, manage the team with a servant leadership mindset, drive process improvements, and participate in strategic decision-making. Trust is earned through integrity, accountability, and consistent follow-through.
Phase 3 -- Transition (Year 2+): Begin structured acquisition of partial ownership. Your equity stake will reflect your contribution, performance, and commitment, built on a transparent framework agreed upon from the start.
Phase 4 -- Own (Years 3-10): Gradually transition into majority or full ownership through a supported, structured purchasing process. The current owner remains involved as a resource and mentor throughout the transition.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development
- Identify, pursue, and close new B2B accounts while deepening relationships with existing clients
- Build a healthy, consistent sales pipeline using disciplined outreach and follow-up
- Track and report on key sales metrics, win rates, and pipeline activity
Operations and Workflow
- Learn and support day-to-day production processes, vendor coordination, and quality control
- Collaborate with the team to identify and implement operational improvements
- Gradually assume responsibility for workflow management, staffing decisions, and vendor relationships
Leadership and Culture
- Lead with a servant mindset; support the team, remove obstacles, and create conditions for others to succeed
- Model accountability, transparency, and integrity in all interactions
- Foster a culture of ownership where every team member feels invested in outcomes
Financial and Strategic Oversight (Evolving)
- Develop fluency in financial performance: revenue, margins, costs, and profitability drivers
- Participate in budgeting, pricing strategy, and business planning
- Contribute to the long-term strategic direction of the company
COMPENSATION AND SHARED GROWTH
Base Salary: $80,000 annually -- provides stability and reflects your commitment from day one
Annual Profit Sharing: A meaningful percentage of annual profits distributed above baseline; rewards sustainable, healthy growth, not just top-line volume
Equity / Ownership Path: Partial ownership available after Year 2 through structured acquisition. Majority or full ownership transition available Years 3-10 through a clear, fair, and mutually agreed upon purchase process. Terms finalized collaboratively, designed to be earned, not handed over.
WHAT THE OWNER COMMITS TO YOU

- Sharing hard-won knowledge -- successes, mistakes, and lessons learned along the way
- Real responsibility, not just tasks -- you will have room to lead
- Active mentorship and support as you grow into ownership
- A clear, written equity and transition framework built on fairness and mutual trust

- Background in operations management or team leadership
- Familiarity with B2B sales cycles, pricing strategy, or vendor management
- Demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship or business ownership
WHAT MATTERS MOST
Beyond credentials, these character qualities are non-negotiable:
- Integrity: You do what you say. You are honest when it is hard.
- Accountability: You own your outcomes, not just your intentions.
- Servant Leadership: You are motivated to help others succeed, not just yourself.
- Curiosity: You ask good questions and want to understand how things work.
- Long-Term Thinking: You are not here for a quick win. You are building something.
- Initiative: You do not wait to be told. You see what needs to be done and do it.
THIS IS NOT
- A corporate role with narrow, siloed responsibilities
- A passive management or caretaker position
- A short-term or transitional gig
- Easy; it requires real effort, initiative, and sustained commitment
But it offers something most jobs never will: the opportunity to own what you build.
